EL Education | Unlock Phonics

When the country went into lockdown and learning went remote, education had to turn on a dime. EL Education hired me to transform their phonics curriculum into an interactive application that could be deployed to millions of students irrespective of their device or software limitations. I squeezed all the juice Google Slides could offer and delivered a design system that was aspirational, modern, and met kids’ expectations of modern interactivity.

GEICO | Logo Littles

Creative, Animation Director

GEICO needed a campaign that could work in sports arenas and gas station pumps; social media and augmented reality applications. The content had to be sharp, enjoyable, and instantly recognizable.

 

I created the GEICO Logo Littles, anthropomorphic characters built from the letters in the GEICO logo. The commercials are always branded, they work with or without sound, and they scale to everything from mobile devices to DC's Gallery Place.

GEICO Motorcycle | Motion Print

Post Production

Shooting in the mountains of Montana in the fall of 2020 was… a challenge, but GEICO’s motorcycle campaigns are one of their largest each year. In addition to developing a remote video village system that brought the client live feeds of 4 shooting cameras, the prop table, our wardrobe area, and live edits - I supervised visual effects shots to dress up limited locations in post so we could shoot safely.

If you ride, you get it...

When you're not on your motorcycle, you're thinking about it. Even at times which might prove... inopportune. We licensed Whitesnake's #1 hit to evoke the feeling of excitement and adventure that riders long for. We cut together a dream and then snapped viewers out of it. The memorable combination of a hit song and clever punchline leaves the audience with the message, "riders get it, and GEICO gets it."

GEICO Gaming | TSM's New Neighbor

I did extensive market research, qualitative interviews, and spent hours watching Twitch streams in order to crack the code. What I created and delivered was a series of 15-second Twitch pre-rolls. Each of these branded scenarios were connected to long-form content on TSM’s YouTube channel. The work was a huge success, garnering over half-a-million views on the click-through content in just a couple of weeks.

Software presentations are snoozers. They're jargon-y and the value is difficult to distill into something simple and effective. I did away with the charts, graphs, and templatized Powerpoints in favor of producing an elevator pitch animation that was perfect for the trade show stage. Data professionals of all disciplines leave with a clear idea of how eleVate can improve the accuracy and efficiency of their output.

Outsider's Club | 3 Days on the Campaign Trail with Gary Johnson

A mini-doc featuring former New Mexico Governor and presidential candidate, Gary Johnson as he attempts to capture the swing vote in the U.S. Senate and win a historical, first-ever appointment for a third party.

The Adventure Capitalist | A Smuggler's Life for Me

The managing editor asked me to produce a guerilla doc of his adventures surrounding the first ever European Cannabis Symposium in Copenhagen, Denmark. The name of the game was, light on our feet, discrete, anything goes. We shot on hidden cameras in the open-air drug market of Christiania, we documented the smuggling of his grandmother's ashes out of the country on mobile phone rigs. The result became the template for all Adventure Capitalist videos to follow and the promotional video assembled from its pieces drove more than $1.5 million in sales.

Light City | Beacon

Concept, Motion Design

Based on my work creating sculptural video content for Grandscape and Times Square, Danny Barnycz sought me out to design the video that would play on the centerpiece of Baltimore’s Light City festival. I created fractal recursions and psychedelic kaleidoscope effects in an Easter egg palette to celebrate the start of Spring. Like bees to blossoms, visitors swarmed to the beacon upon arrival where they could plot their course through the many outdoor exhibits, or you know... just kinda trip out for a while.

Strange Weather | Lonely Romance

A partnership with long-time creative collaborator Sean Brennan to produce a music video for Strange Weather musical single, “Lonely Romance”. Locked away in a creative vault, It’s a journey inside the artist’s solitudinous mental space as he struggles with the realization of what it means to create art all on your own.
